Kryptopyrroles Urine Test
The Kryptopyrroles Urine Test measures levels of pyrrole compounds in the urine, commonly referred to as the “Mauve Factor.” Elevated urinary pyrroles have been proposed as a marker of altered metabolic and oxidative processes and have historically been explored in relation to stress tolerance, mood, behaviour and nutritional status.
In functional and nutritional medicine, elevated pyrrole levels are sometimes considered alongside nutrients such as zinc and vitamin B6, which play important roles in nervous system function, energy production, immune health and emotional wellbeing.
This simple urine test can provide an additional piece of information when exploring an individual's overall nutritional and biochemical picture, allowing results to be considered alongside symptoms, health history and other laboratory findings.
The test may be useful for exploring:
- Nutritional and biochemical imbalances
- Zinc and vitamin B6 status alongside appropriate nutritional testing
- Stress tolerance and emotional wellbeing
- Mood and behavioural concerns
- Fatigue and energy
- The wider biochemical picture in children and adults with complex health concerns
