Easy DIY Christmas snack that kids can make!

From November the 1st each year, we start getting into the Christmas spirit in our house. This is such a fun, easy to set up Christmas snack that kids will love!

It is so good because;

  • It allows for a variety of different food exposure

  • Is completely balanced

  • Is full of nourishment

  • Encourages positivity around food in a fun, informal, relaxed way.

You can approach this activity by saying something like 'let's decorate our Christmas tree!'.

I simply chopped up red, green and yellow peppers along with some carrots. And used a star cookie cutter for the carrot stars. Serve with hummus and mashed avocado.

Ingredients;

For the wraps;

  • 1 cup of cassava flour

  • 1/4 cup of chia seeds

  • 1/4 cup of flax seeds

  • 1/4 cup of psyllium husk powder

  • 2 cups of water

  • Salt to taste

  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder

Other things you will need;

  • A blender

  • A large bowl

  • Measuring cups

  • Measuring spoons

Method:

  1. Pour all of the dry ingredients into your blender

  2. Blend on high speed until a fine flour forms

  3. Pour this into your bowl

  4. Add the water

  5. Mix with a spoon until it forms a dough

  6. Leave to sit for 5 minutes

  7. Bring the dough together with hands

  8. Cut the ball of dough in half, half again and half again

  9. Use two pieces of parchment to roll out each piece of dough - or flour the surface and rolling pin so it doesn't stick

  10. Cook on a dry preheated pan for around 3 minutes each side or until it puffs up like a pitta

  11. Remove and cool

  12. Use a Christmas tree cookie cutter to cut out trees to decorate!
